Multilayer ceramic capacitor MLCC, as the main filter element, usually only needs to pay attention to size, capacitance, voltage resistance, temperature characteristics and accuracy. However, as to the actual circuit application of the product, we need to compare the electrical characteristic parameters of different models. The following is a further explanation.
Volume, Insulation Impedance I.R. and Loss Factor D.F.
Murata's ceramic capacitance is small to pF level, large to hundreds of uF level, large capacity value filter low frequency, mostly used in decoupling circuit on power line, reduce circuit ripple; small capacity filter high frequency, mostly used in radio frequency matching circuit.
The insulation impedance of an ideal capacitor is infinite, but in fact there are parasitic parameters in the capacitor, so the actual insulation impedance is limited, generally at mega-ohm level. See the specifications of the corresponding models.
Loss factor (loss tangent) = active power / reactive power = leakage current / charging current = 1 / Q (quality factor)
D.F. = 2*pi*f*C*R (R is equivalent series resistance)
