Damage of Murata Capacitor in Power Supply

1) The short and open circuit inside the capacitor is damaged. The fault phenomenon is burning out the switch tube and other current limiting components, such as the current limiting resistor in the safety and switching power supply. Varistors may be broken down.



2) Safety capacitors working in high voltage and high current are damaged by short and open circuit of capacitors. When the voltage rises for some reason and exceeds its withstand voltage value, the capacitors will be damaged by short circuit breakdown. Due to the large current flowing through the capacitor during short circuit, the safety capacitor will burst.



3) The failure and complete leakage caused by the loss of capacitor capacity is the most difficult fault to distinguish and repair after capacitor failure in power supply. Because measuring capacitor components and testing everything with Multimeter are normal, but when capacitor is installed on the circuit, the capacitance will disappear completely, which is one of the most difficult soft faults to maintain in the circuit. That is to say, components can not withstand voltage, once there is voltage, the capacity will completely disappear.
