Capacitors are already one of the indispensable electronic components in our lives. We should avoid using them in the following situations when installing capacitors. It is well known that capacitors are also affected by temperature. So what are the situations that we need to pay attention to, engineers and novices have to look at it.
1. High temperature (temperature exceeds maximum use temperature).
2. Used in circuits that repeatedly charge and discharge abruptly, such as for fast charging applications, the service life may be reduced due to a decrease in capacity, a sharp rise in temperature, and the like.
3. Apply a reverse voltage or an alternating voltage. When the capacitor is connected to the circuit in reverse polarity, the capacitor will cause a short circuit in the electronic circuit, and the resulting current will cause damage to the capacitor.
4. Overcurrent (current exceeds the rated ripple current). When the applied ripple current exceeds the rated value, the capacitor body will overheat, the capacity will decrease, and the life will be shortened.
5. Overvoltage (voltage exceeds rated voltage), when the voltage applied to the capacitor is higher than the rated working voltage, the leakage current of the capacitor will rise, and its oxygen property will deteriorate in a short period of time until it is damaged.
6. When the capacitor is installed, there is space above the explosion-proof valve of the capacitor, avoiding wiring and other components on the top of the explosion valve, and surrounding the capacitor and the circuit board to avoid heating components.
The six points mentioned in this article are a problem we should pay attention to before installing capacitors. Try to avoid using capacitors in this case. Protective capacitors are also one of our jobs. Damage and breakdown also affect other electronic components, so attention and avoidance are critical.
